Our Staycation experience at WelcomHotel Devee Grand Bay by ITC Visakhapatnam

How wonderful is it to be welcomed in an unknown city with love and compassion? Isn’t it? That is how we felt when we reached the WelcomHotel Devee Grand Bay (Member ITC’s Hotel Group) in Visakhapatnam. We were greeted with all the much-needed COVID-19-protection guidelines, but that is not all what we will be talking about in this blog. The hotel staff ensured that our stay was memorable with a welcome cake accompanied by a beautiful, customized photograph frame (perks of being a Travel Blogger 😉 😛 ). In addition, some refreshing drinks cookies were also served; It worked like a cherry on the cake, especially after a long hectic day & tiresome journey.

The WelcomHotel Devee Grand Bay is located at Beach Road in the port city of Visakhapatnam, India. The nearest airport is Vishakhapatnam Airport, 9 km from WelcomHotel Devee Grand Bay – Member ITC’s Hotel Group.

While we travel a lot, we are also very particular about staying, especially with the pandemic. So, this time when we traveled to Visakhapatnam, we did our research, and WelcomHotel Devee Grand Bay was the preferred pick for our stay.

 

ITC Hotel Group has a legacy of providing the best services and guest care, and as always, they kept up to it. The view from the hotel is mesmerizing, and the closest location to visit is Rama Krishna Beach. We had a long journey and wanted to rest before exploring places. So, we just hopped into the bed after a cup of comfort tea and a hot shower. Of course, we liked the room and the services.

 

Ambiance

As grand as it can get, WelcomHotel Devee Grand Bay sets you in an aura of grandeur. The beautiful aesthetics and interiors of the place will leave you spellbound, and of course, it would not be wrong to say that your travel pictures will be appealingly eye-catchy. The hotel rooms are clean and provide all the amenities like a private bathroom also for your comfort, bathrobes, slippers, the necessary complimentary toiletries, access to the Swimming pool.

 

Staff

The staff service was prompt and polite. Morning breakfast in bed with complete comfort was commendable. 24X7 service with a positive and smiling impression made my stay a positive one. The food service was also well on time and Hot to calm your cravings.

 

Rooms

The sea view from the rooms is mesmerizing. Deluxe Double Room, Executive King Room, and Deluxe Suite are available. All rooms are spacious and have attached bathrooms. Each room has air conditioning and comes with a flat-screen TV with satellite channels. You will find a kettle in the room, so it’s easy to make your tea or coffee. Also, you know all the services are contactless and amazed how well all the COVID-19 guidelines are being followed to keep us safe.

 

Food

If you are foody, you will thoroughly enjoy the food here with various cuisines. You name it, and it will be served hot and tasty. In fact, the restaurants of the Welcomhotel are quite popular among the locals too. There are three very excellent restaurants here are-

 

Dakshin– ‘Dakshin’ means South, and hence this South Indian restaurant gets its name. The restaurant serves fantastic south Indian food. If you are a South Indian, you would know it is one of the best places for South Indian food. However, the way it was served added starts to its unique taste. It is served in authentic vessels called ‘Urli’ and ‘Adukku.’ This is sure a place remarkable for its authentic presentation of the finest creations from Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala.

Also, it’s not just about the food but also about the ambiance. While you eat South Indian, you must also feel South Indian! I do not know if many of us understand South Indian music. Still, it is a treat to the ears & adds to the authentic vibes of the South Indian experience.

 

A pro-tip: You can even wear South Indian attire if you are a fashion influencer or simply looking for some fantastic Instagrammable captures. 😉

 

So, let us now talk about food. We had the Vegetarian Thali. its an exquisite spread which includes-

The Iyer’s Trolley

– mini dosais ( banana dosa & beetroot+sabudana dosa)

– Vada, aloo bonda

– lots of chutneys and powders – Curry leaf powder, ghee with karampodi, tamarind chutney, tomato chutney, ginger chutney, coconut chutney.

The main course had aloo curry, dal, sambar, curd rice, brinjal curry, bhendakai pulusu aka bhindi curry Pappu, rasam, poriyal, fried vegetable (dhondakai/tindora), served with rice and Malabar parotta.

There was also flavored rice and appam with vegetable stew; buttermilk served along the main course.

In desserts, we had junnu and payasam. And ended the whole grand meal with the filter coffee 🙂

 

Marco polo– Cosmopolitan has always been one of my go-to drinks when out for a party. I recently had a knowledgeable yet entertaining session with Julias in Marco Polo. I learned the process of mixing and making some of the famous cocktails – Mint hopper, cosmopolitan, and espresso martini (for coffee lovers).

 

WelcomCafé Oceanic –I had a sumptuous Asian Express meal here, the flavor of something that will fill your appetite and your soul.

Breakfast in Bed-To add to all the above, I was also served my breakfast in bed, which included English breakfast – Pancakes, donuts, croissants, etc., and Indian breakfast – idlis, pesarattu (Moong dal Dosa) along with the chutneys and sambar and some coffee and orange juice!

So, I give a 9 on 10 for food and recommend visiting Visakhapatnam to stay in style at the WelcomHotel Devee Grand Bay. If you have kids with you, I bet they will also enjoy all the special services for them, like a cute badge of Olees corner where the kids get a complimentary drink. It sure brings a smile to their face.

 

Experiences

You will enjoy the view and the lush green garden around for your morning walk or yoga session if you are a morning person. You will also not have to miss your fitness training schedule even on holiday due to the gym and pool facilities available for the guests. If you happen to be here during weekends, you will experience a very festive weekend with Friday live music on the poolside and Saturday DJ night.

 

To sum it all, the stay was a rather memorable one with an experience cherished for life. Or maybe if I ever revisit Visakhapatnam, I would once again want to have my stay at The WelcomHotel Devee Grand Bay – Member ITC’s Hotel Group.

 

On a lighter note, remember to travel once in a while to take a break from the hectic life, no matter even if you feel your pockets are empty. So collect the little savings you have and hit the road. And one thing that is for sure is that travel will always fill your soul and give you life experiences that will make you a better person both personally and professionally.
